Metal roofing is a type of roofing material made from various types of metals, such as steel, aluminum, copper, or zinc. It is a durable, long-lasting, and energy-efficient roofing option that can provide several advantages over traditional roofing materials. Metal roofing is available in a wide variety of styles, colors, and textures, making it a popular choice for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. Metal roofing is resistant to fire, wind, rain, and hail, and it can also help reduce energy costs by reflecting sunlight and reducing heat gain in the building's interior.

In the Madawaska Valley the most common type of metal roofing is a 29 gauge panel 3 ft wide with currugations to give the panel strength and texture. The panels can come in silver/galvanized/galvalume (steel coated in zinc or zinc/aluminium) or in a variety of colours with paint baked on. The quality of the paint has increased greatly over the years and many suppliers now offer 40 year warranty on the paint.
